Walking along the elegant Ringstrasse will take your breath away. This monumental boulevard was built 150 years ago to be the showcase of the old Empire’s power and wealth. You will discover the Austrian Parliament, Vienna’s City Hall, the Art and Natural History Museums, the Vienna State Opera--are all to be found right here. Having crossed one of the other lovely gardens, you will reach the amazing Hofburg Palace, former winter residence of the Habsburg dynasty. This is where you will get in touch with over 600 years of European history.
One of the castle’s many wings houses the world-famous Spanish Riding School, where the beautiful and skillful Lipizzaner stallions perform their ballets. Their morning exercises on most weekdays are open to the public. Why not step in and have a closer look?
Whenever you need a short rest to recover from all this magnificence, take a seat in one of Vienna’s traditional coffee-houses or pastry-shops. A cup of delicious Viennese coffee and a tasty piece of cake or Strudel wait for you! Continue your walk through Vienna’s busiest areas, along elegant shopping avenues, past the curious "Plague Column" to finally reach the city’s very heart: St. Stephen’s Cathedral with its iconic Southern steeple. The exploration of this Gothic masterpiece takes you back to some 800 years ago when architecture talked to people and sought to touch heaven.
