First, explore the city of České Budejovice with its historical Otakar II square, the largest one in Central Europe and beautifully surrounded by a mixture of Renaissance and Baroque houses and dominated by the Black Tower. Enjoy a beer in the birthplace of Budvar, the brand that inspired America’s Budweiser.
Then tour the charming neo-Gothic Castle of Hluboka with its collections of furniture, tapestries, porcelain, paintings and historical weapons. Built originally as a gothic guarding castle in the 13th century, ownership passed to many different families and lands, and was reconstructed several times.
