Jemniste Chateau Excursion
Explore this 18th Century Chateau

Duration: 4-hours

With a knowledgeable local guide and driver, visit the wondrous Jemniste Chateau.

This beautiful chateau was built in 1724 for Count Frances Adam of Trauttmansdorff by architect Frances Macmiliam Kanka. This Baroque style mansion was designed with a chapel dedicated to Saint Joseph and lush gardens. The chateau burned down in 1754, only to be rebuilt to be almost identical, save for the addition of statues and a new gable. After Count Frances died with no heir, the chateau changed ownership many times, even coming under German ownership during the second world war. Now Jemniste belongs to the Sternberg family, one of the oldest family lines in Czech. The family resides in one wing of the chateau and may even be seen on a visit here.

The gardens are now an English style park, which you can roam through on your visit and the Cafe Custoza offers delicacies made with foods grown in the garden house.
