SIGHTSEEING AND EXCURSION
Konopiste Chateau Excursion
Visit the Baroque Chateau of the Archdukes

Duration: 6-hours

With a knowledgeable local guide and driver, visit the pristine Konopiste Chateau on the hills of the Vltava south of Prague.

Originally, this 14th century chateau was a gothic style fortress built to protect a nearby town. It was later turned into a renaissance mansion for its new owners, and once more converted in the 18th century to a Baroque style. It most notably belonged at one point to the archduke Franz Ferdinand, whose assassination in 1914 set off the start of World War I. Inside, you will be able to view works of art and the many hunting trophies the archduke came to collect in his time at the residence. Outside, you can stroll through the baroque style Rose Garden and view the grounds.
