SIGHTSEEING AND EXCURSION
Avignon & Lubéron From Aix, Avignon, Marseille, or Provence
Cruise Through The Villages of Provence

DURATION: UP TO 8-HOURS

Get right in the heart of the Provence culture by discovering one of the best known Provencal cities: Avignon. Enjoy, with your English-speaking driver, the main monuments including the Palace of the Pope, the Pont d’Avignon, or the Cathedrale des Doms.

Prestigious for its history and its summer theater festival, Avignon embraces one of the biggest middle-age gothic palaces in the world, the 14th century Palais des Papes. Close by, enjoy a promenade around the 12th century Pont d’Avignon and discover the rocher des Doms and its cathedral.

The Isle sur Sorgue, “island city,” lies at the foot of the Vaucluse plateau in the plains of Comtat Venaissin. Little bridges and paddle wheels lend the town a cheerful look; a perfect place for art collectors and antique lovers. The city counts around 300 antique dealers and hosts antique fairs at Easter and in August.

Your next stop will be a visit to Fontaine de Vaucluse. The outstanding natural site known as “Vallis clausa”, the closed valley, is where the Sorgue River mysteriously takes its source. As you stroll through the village discover the ruins of the Château of the Bishops of Cavaillon, from the 14th century, the church, Saint Véran, 11th century, and the ruins of the Roman canal, built along the left bank of the Sorgue River.

The superb little village of Menerbes is considered one of the finest in France. Built on a hill, it is surrounded by magnificent countryside. Its rich historic past has been well-preserved. The Dolmen de la Pichouno shows that Ménerbes has been inhabited since prehistoric times.

Lacoste is small and delightful, full of life and with the most fabulous views. Crowned by the Marquis de Sade’s chateau, now owned by the Pierre Cardin Foundation.
