Drive through the Plateau de Valensole and take in the stunning view. Lavender fields and almond trees offer unbelievable scenery. You will have the opportunity during this private guided tour to enjoy a stop at Riez, an authentic village of Provence full of history on your way to the medieval town of Moustiers Sainte Marie. There, you will enjoy the peaceful atmosphere and walk around the village to discover the world’s most famous producers of ceramic and faïence. The stunning Gorges du Verdon with its blue-green water colour will be admirable on your way back to the hotel.

 

 

Valensole, Latin for valley of sun, is situated in the middle of a magnificent plateau of lavender and almond trees. You will also get to see the impressive layout of the town which is known for its affable charm.

 

Founded in the first century, Riez is the most ancient site of the area, originally called Riez la Romaine. Its rich past can be appreciated by visiting its ruins which include from Gallo-Roman, Medieval, and Renaissance style.

 

The village of Moustiers Sainte Marie sits astride a rushing mountain stream. The view of this mini-gorge, with small waterfalls down inside and medieval houses above, is beautiful. You will have the feeling of being in a Medieval Alpine village. The center piece of the village is the 12th-century Notre-Dame church.

 

The Gorges du Verdon are gigantic cliffs of calcareous rock, the result of the erosion of the Verdon River. They are the deepest gorges in Europe. You will be amazed by the beautiful blue-green color of the water.

 

 

Pick-Up/Drop-Off:  Your driver will pick you up from the lobby of your Provence region hotel (Aix, Avignon, Marseille, Provence). At the conclusion of the tour, the driver can return you to the hotel, or if you prefer, perhaps drop you off at a nearby restaurant for dinner (If choosing the latter, taxis back to the hotel are to be paid for locally).

 

Includes: Knowledgeable English-speaking driver and private car service for up to 8-hours, Transport Expenses.

 

Excludes: Any entrance to museums or other activities when touring, Food and Beverage.
