Louvre & Musee D'Orsay Walking Tour
Enjoy an Artistic Walk Through Paris

DURATION: UP TO 6-HOURS

Visit the Louvre, an essential stop on your trip through Paris, and the renowned Musee D'Orsay. With a knowledgeable English-speaking guide, learn the history of the two great museums and lives of the artists whose artwork is displayed throughout their rooms.

Once a fortress and later a palace for French kings, the Louvre houses an array of collections and art. Paintings, sculptures, drawings, and antiques; this museum contains many classic mediums. View pieces of art from Ancient Greece, Rome, the Middle East, Egypt, the Americas, Oceania, and the Far East. You'll also find the masterpieces and works of famous artists. The most well-known piece housed here is DaVinci's Mona Lisa, as well as Eugene Delcroix's Liberty Leading the People.

After touring the Louvre, walk over to the Musee D'Orsay. The museum is located within the old Orsay railway station, which was constructed for the 1900 world's fair. It became a mailing room during World War Two and setpiece for Orson Welles' The Trial. The building was declared an historical monument in 1978 before becoming a museum of art in the 1980's.

The museum is home to art created between 1848-1914, and began its collection with donations from three principal institutions; the Louvre, Musée du Jeu de Paume, and National Museum of Modern Art, all of whom could no longer hold artists from the time. View the works of renowned painters, like Manet, Renoir, Rousseau, Denis, as well as sculptures by Rodin and Degas. Do not miss the photography and graphic arts collections.

There is an exhibition for everyone, and you are bound to get lost within the history and culture of both of these great museums.
