Musee D'Orsay Walking Tour
A Diverse Selection of Art

DURATION: UP TO 3-HOURS

Visit the Musee D'Orsay and view its marvelous collection of classic art. With a knowldgeable English-speaking guide, you will tour the museum and learn the history of the pieces and the artists who created them.

The museum is located within the old Orsay railway station, which was constructed for the 1900 world's fair. It became a mailing room during World War Two and setpiece for Orson Welles' The Trial. The building was declared an historical monument in 1978 before becoming a museum of art in the 1980's.

The museum is home to art created between 1848-1914, and began its collection with donations from three principal institutions; the Louvre, Musée du Jeu de Paume, and National Museum of Modern Art, all of whom could no longer hold artists from the time. View the works of renowned painters, like Manet, Renoir, Rousseau, Denis, as well as sculptures by Rodin and Degas. Do not miss the photography and graphic arts collections.
