SIGHTSEEING AND EXCURSION
Normandy D-Day Beaches Excursion
A Memorial Excursion

DURATION: UP TO 12-HOURS

Your day trip with a knowledgeable English-speaking driver will start at Courseulles sur Mer, where more than 14,000 Canadian soldiers stormed the 8-kilometre stretch of beach on the 6th of June 1944. In Croix sur Lorraine, you will be able to visit de Gaulle’s memorial in a beautiful park by the sea, where you will get to know more about the Général's history.

Then, drive to Arromanches, an Allies base with a stunning view of the sea. Arromanches is renowned for its artificial “Mulberry” harbor, known as “Port Winston”. Visitors can admie the remarkable feat of taking 600,000 tons of concrete and equipment across the Channel in wartime to serve as a base for Allied troops.

Located on a bluff overlooking Omaha Beach and the English Channel, you will arrive at the American cemetery at Colleville-su-Mer. The cemetery covers 172 acres (70 ha), and contains the remains of 9,387 American military men, most of whom were killed in Normandy.

Then discover Pointe du Hoc, a cliff top location situated between Utah Beach and Omaha Beach. The post stands on 30m tall cliffs overlooking the sea, where 225 brave men climbed up to secure long-range guns from the Germanss. You may also visit the German cemetery whose dark gravestones are a stark contrast to the all-white tombstones of the American cemetery.

The last stop is in Caen, where you can visit the Caen Memorial and immerse yourself in the heart of the history from 1918 until today. Caen, bombed during the summer of 1944, martyr city of the liberation, deserved a tribute to the extent of its suffering. The Caen Memorial will explore the history of the 20th century.
