Neuschwanstein-Linderhof Excursion
A Not to Miss Castle Double-Feature

Take in two of Bavaria's greatest castles on this amazing tour! With your English-speaking driver, you will see the estates of Bavarian nobles, and possibly some of the greatest and most diverse examples of mixed architecture in all of Europe.
First, you will visit Castle Neuschwanstein. Tucked away in the Bavarian countryside, come see the structure that inspired Walt Disney's "Sleeping Beauty" castle in Disneyland.
Commisioned by "Mad" King Ludwig II in 1869, this castle combined designs from medieval and romanesque revival to reflect the operas of Richard Wagner, a close friend of the king. You will marvel at the panoramic view of the countryside and be awed by the shear size of the grounds. Though not every floor was finished, the third and fourth floor rooms of the palace were completed for use by the King in 1886. There are 15 rooms open to explore on these floors, while the first and second have been converted into a shop, cafeteria, and multimedia room.
Then you will stop by Linderhof Palace, one of the many extravagent estates of Ludwig II. Journey into the Bavarian countryside to explore this private palace. While smaller in comparison to other castles in the region, Linderhoff makes up for it in its display of rococo architecture, massive park grounds, and Versailles-like influences.
Within the palace, you will see the private dining room, bedchamber, audience chamber, and Hall of Mirrors. These rooms were interestingly designed to accomadate just the King, as he often came to the estate alone. Outside you will see the spacious 125 acre gardens that contain a chapel, music pavilion, and underground grotto. There are of course hundreds of priceless antiques throughout the palace, including an ivory chandlier, a table made of gems, several tapestries and many more. This is a not to miss excursion of one of the most peculiar estates in all of Bavaria.
