SIGHTSEEING AND EXCURSION
Full-Day Budapest City Tour
A Full Day Overview of the Gems of Budapest

Duration: 8-hours

With a local English-speaking guide and driver, travel through Budapest and see all the highlights this great city has to offer. This full-day tour starts at your hotel and will be customized from your location.

Follow Andrassy Avenue and visit the State Opera House, the beautiful neo-Renaissance opera house built in 1875 with the aim of surpassing its rival in Vienna. The auditorium, decorated with a vast fresco and several hundred statues, is said to be the most beautiful, or at least the most ornate, in Europe.

Then drive to Budapest's most visited attraction, Heroes’ Square, to see the Millennial Monument that commemorates Hungary's 1000 years, as well as the City Park behind.

Arriving back downtown, you will visit St. Stephen’s Basilica. Named after the first king of Hungary, the basilica was constructed from 1851-1891 and is the largest in Budapest. Then, passing by the Parliament Building you will hit the Danube embankment and cross over Margaret Bridge, driving by Margaret Island.

On this full day tour, you will also have the chance to visit the Parliament Building. Perhaps the symbol most synonymous with the city, it is home to the Hungarian Crown Jewels, the most famous artifact being the Holy Crown of Hungary, which was entrusted with the US Army in 1945 by the Hungarian Crown Guard for safekeeping from the Soviets. It was held at Fort Knox, until 1978, at which time it was returned to Hungary under order of Jimmy Carter.

Getting on the Buda side, you will proceed to the Castle District, the historic heart of Budapest, with the Matthias Church and the Fishermen’s Bastion, one of the best vantage points in Budapest. After a half hour pause to sip coffee, buy souvenirs at the many kiosks or simply relax and enjoy the view. You will continue to Gellert Hill for the ultimate panorama of the majestic river and twin cities underneath.
