The largest city in southern Italy, Naples is situated on the beautiful gulf of the same name in the Amalfi Coast area. Founded as a Greek city Neapolis, or “new city,” it maintains a Greco-Roman influence. The lively city holds numerous attractions built throughout the years and preserved beautifully, making it a historic wonder. The archaeological museum comprises an extensive collection of Greek and Roman artifacts, some notably from the Pompeii and Herculaneum excavations. Castel Nuovo stands boldly with its triumphal arch entrance. The Palazzo Reale sits in the Piazza del Plebiscito, the central square of Naples. Duomo, built between 1294 and 1323, is home to the remains and relics of Naples’ protector, San Gennaro.
Caserta, the Provincial Capital, exhibits its art both in the town center and in the beautiful surrounding area. It is located on the edge of the Campanian plain at the foot of the Campanian Subapennine mountain range and is best known for the Palace of Caserta. Eleven acres, 120 hectares of park, 1,200 rooms, 34 staircases, 1,742 windows, and 22 years of labor: these are mind-blowing statistics that one can grasp only when seeing the Reggia di Caserta face to face. The palace's grandeur immediately strikes the eye. A walk in the marvelous park, along the boulevard lined by sculptures, ponds and waterfalls, is all it takes to be amazed by the architectural lines that design the massive façade. The sensation is enhanced when the visitor enters the Palace, where a series of artworks, stuccoes, bas-reliefs, frescoes, sculptures, and decorated floors reveal themselves in all their magnificence.
Pick-up/Drop-off: Our driver will pick you up from your Amalfi Hotel. At the conclusion of the excursion you will be dropped back off at your hotel in Amalfi.
