Uffizi Gallery & Vassari Corridor Walking Tour
The Florentine Art Experience
DURATION: UP TO 3.5-HOURS
Come and see some of the greatest pieces of art in all the world! This tour is designed for the art & history lover. With our specialized guide you will combine the opportunity to view magnificent works of art with accounts of the history and life of Florence during the rule of the Medici Family.
Start with a visit to the Pitti Palace and a view of the Vasari Corridor from the outside noticing details that might otherwise go unseen. Trace the footsteps of the Princes of the past inside the Uffizi Gallery, specially designed by Giorgio Vasari for the first Medici Grand Duke, Cosimo I. In the Gallery you will see some masterpieces of the Renaissance from Cimabue, Masaccio, Pier della Francesca, Filippo Lippi and Botticelli. Continue with a visit to Leonardo da Vinci's Annunciation and Michelangelo's Doni Tondo.
You will have time for a 30-minute lunch break (paid locally) before resuming your tour of the Vasari Corridor.
The corridor unwinds on the top floor of the Uffizi building offering magnificent views of the Arno River and the hills around the city. Entering the corridor you will walk along a tunnel, over half a mile in length, which unites Palazzo Vecchio, the Uffizi Gallery and the Grand Ducal home of the Pitti Palace. Here you will see a magnificent collection of self-portraits from Vasari, da Vinci, works by Bernini, Rubens and Delacroix to name a few. At the end of your tour you will be left with an indelible impression of Florence, its rulers and artists.
