Coliseum, Roman Forum & Palatine Hill Small Group Tour
Visit the Imperial Rome
DURATION: UP TO 3-HOURS
Ancient Rome has always fascinated all of us, the history and the legends of this incredible civilization are unique. The Coliseum and Forum are the symbols of Rome and understanding these sites helps to understand this city.
On this small group tour we start our adventure at the star attraction – the Coliseum. As one of the world’s most iconic sights, the Coliseum is the first stop for most visitors. Yet without an idea of the battles and politics that played out here, it’s hardly more than a beautiful pile of old stones. Your guide, an expert in history and archaeology, will lead you on your Coliseum adventure, telling you just why ‘Gladiator’ had it all wrong and how this incredible amphitheater once hosted re-enactments of sea battles.
With your guide you will explore Palatine Hill, the spot where brothers Remus and Romulus battled over who would found the first empire, and where Romulus founded the city that would later become Rome.
The tour ends at the Roman Forum – the heart of Ancient Rome. Home to the bustling marketplace, ruled by moneylenders and shopkeepers; this was Rome at its finest. Here politicians held rallies before elections, soldiers marched triumphantly down the Sacred Way and the Vestal Virgins decided if men lived or died.
