Rome Overview with Coliseum & Vatican Visits
An Orientation of "The Eternal City" Coupled with a Stop at the Coliseum and Vatican Tour

DURATION: UP TO 8-HOURS

Meet your knowledgeable English-speaking driver in the hotel lobby to begin your private full-day overview of the "Eternal City". You will start by visiting the Coliseum and Roman Forum for a 3-HOUR private tour with one of our knowledgeable local guides.

Your guide will bring Ancient Rome to life by taking you through the ruins and recounting the exciting and momentous events that took place in this thriving capitol, thousands of years ago. Your guide will help recreate the experience of the Roman citizens when they entered the amphitheater to watch the gladiators battle and the animals race and fight!  You will also explore the Palatine Hill, where, according to legend, the city was founded, and walk through the impressive ruins of the Roman Forum, the heart of the Ancient Roman Empire.

At the conclusion of the 3-HOUR tour of the Coliseum, the driver will pick you up and drop you off in the vicinity of the Vatican. Here you will have 1-HOUR at leisure to enjoy lunch (to be paid locally – the driver can make restaurant suggestions).

You will then make your way to the nearby entrance of the Vatican Museums, where your guide will be waiting, holding a name sign, to begin your 3-HOUR tour of the Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel, and Saint Peter’s Basilica.

When in Rome, the only way to fully experience the Vatican Museums is with your very own private guide leading you through the labyrinth of galleries to divulge the little known secrets of the masterpieces before you. Starting with the Vatican Museums, where we've included pre-reserved entrance tickets to avoid waiting in long lines, this private 3-hour tour will also take you through the Sistine Chapel and Saint Peter’s Basilica.

In the Vatican you will see the priceless collection of art and treasures that fill this amazing museum. The founding of the Vatican Museums can be traced back to 1503, when the newly elected Pope Julius II della Rovere placed a statue of Apollo in the internal courtyard of the Belvedere Palace, built by Innocent VIII. Michelangelo, Perugino, and Botticelli created the unbelievable wall frescoes that adorn the complex. You will have time to visit the famous Sistine Chapel, whose unique ceiling is surely one of Michelangelo's greatest achievements. Finish the tour with a visit to Saint Peter's Basilica, an architectural masterpiece with contributions from Michelangelo and Bernini, among others.
