Private half-day excursion with a knowledgeable English-speaking driver from Sorrento to Herculaneum for independent sightseeing of the ruins (see below Tour Pricing for the option of adding a guided tour of the excavations).
With Vesuvius brooding on the horizon any visit to the Bay of Naples area should include a visit to Herculaneum. It is unjustly less famous than its bigger brother Pompeii as the state of preservation of the buildings are generally much superior. It was lost to sight during the same series of eruptions that destroyed Pompeii but was possibly destroyed by a pyroclastic flow as much of the timber has survived in a charred condition giving a much better idea of what a Roman town may have looked like.
Pick-up/Drop-off: Our driver will pick you up from your Sorrento Hotel. At the conclusion of the excursion you will be dropped back off at your hotel in Sorrento.
Includes: Private knowledgeable English-speaking driver for 5-hours.
Excludes: Herculaneum Entrance Tickets (to be purchased locally), Driver Gratuity, Guide Gratuity (if booking optional 2-hour guided tour of Herculaneum), Extra Hours, Extra Kilometers.

- The driver, while knowledgeable, is not a licensed guide, and may not leave the vehicle to guide on foot.
