Private half-day excursion with a knowledgeable English-speaking driver from Sorrento to Mount Vesuvius for independent sightseeing of the crater (see below Tour Pricing for the option of adding a guided tour of the crater).

Mount Vesuvius (Monte Vesuvio) has been Europe's most famous volcano, ever since it erupted in AD 79 and buried Pompeii. It is still active, periodically, and is a fascinating and curiously wild place despite its proximity to Naples. The wildlife here is sparse but specialized. There are good roads to near the top, and paths or cable cars to the summit.

Pick-up/Drop-off: Our driver will pick you up from your Sorrento Hotel. At the conclusion of the excursion you will be dropped back off at your hotel in Sorrento.
