SIGHTSEEING AND EXCURSION
Half-Day Krakow City Tour
An Introductory Tour Through the Streets of Bustling Krakow

DURATION: UP TO 4-HOURS

This sightseeing tour takes you to the main sites of Krakow. Begin with a knowledgeable English-speaking guide along the streets of Kazimierz, the former Jewish district that was destroyed during World War II. It has since been rebuilt into a bohemian neighbourhood of galleries, cafes, and other historical sights to stop by.

Then take a trip to Wawel Castle, home to the Polish monarchy and centre of power until the 17th century. Perched on Wawel Hill, the great castle looks over the Wisla river. The castle was built as a Romanesque building in the 11th century, but is now a prestigious Renaissance complex with an arcaded courtyard and other innovative architectural elements. Visit the State Rooms, Royal Apartments, and even the Crown Treasury & Armoury. Take time to view the gardens and art exhibitions as well as the archaeological exhibition of "Lost Wawel."

On the hill, you will also view the Wawel Cathedral. Deemed the "Mother of Churches," it became an archdiocese of Poland in 1925. This grand church was the place of coronation ceremonies for many Polish Monarchs, and their remains rest in the crypts of the cathedral.

After touring Wawel Hill, you can walk up the Grodzka street, one of the city's oldest avenues, to the heart of Krakow. Here you will find the Main Market Square with the large Gothic Cloth Hall, a perfect place for shopping. Then, the last point of the city sightseeing is St. Mary’s Church with its famous medieval altar by Wit Stwosz.
