Half-Day Wieliczka Salt Mine Excursion
Explore this Multi-chamber Mine
DURATION: UP TO 4-HOURS
Wieliczka is famous for being one of the oldest salt mines in Europe, in operation for at least 700 years. The oldest part of the mine is opened to the public as a museum. Travel the Tourist Route of the mines through 20 chambers, each housing something magnificent. While this tour has a local guide that will supervise your tour at the mines, you may opt for a private, expert guide to accompany you on the journey at an additional rate.
Our route in the mine leads you through galleries, chambers, and chapels on three levels. All altarpieces, figures, and monuments are carved out of salt. Also, hear the legends of the mine as you walk through each chamber. The highlight is the richly ornamented Chapel of St. Kinga. The Wieliczka Salt Mine was made UNESCO World Cultural heritage sight in 1978.
