Half-Day Warsaw City Tour with Royal Castle
Introductory Tour of the Capital and Gothic Royal Castle

DURATION: UP TO 4-HOURS

Tour Warsaw, the capital of Poland and largest city in the country, situated in the middle of the Vistula (Wisla) river. The city was settled in 10th century, but the Old Town wasn't established until the 14th & 15th centuries. In the 16th century, Warsaw was frequently the meeting place of the Polish parliament and, through the centuries, also the residence of many Polish kings. Plundered and destroyed, Warsaw was always rising from the ruins. During World War II, 87% of city’s buildings were destroyed.

Visit the Castle Square where you can see the first non-ecclesiastic statue in Warsaw, King Sigmund’s Column, and the originally Gothic castle dating back to the 15th century that has been expanded throughout the centuries. Here you will tour the Royal Castle museum, rebuilt to be identical to the one destroyed in World War II, and see how the Polish royalty lived. View the galleries that contain artwork that was miraculously unharmed during the war, and the elaborate interior of the rooms.

Visit St. John’s Cathedral and walk through the Market Square. Afterwards you will pass the late-Gothic structure by John Baptist of Venice. At the New Town Market you can see the Church and Monastery of Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament and the house where Maria Sklodowska-Curies was born.

At the Krasinski Place stop by the Monument of Warsaw’s Uprising and drive to see the Ghetto Memorial. Afterwards, drive via Royal Route with its aristocratic residences, and view the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Warsaw’s Grand Opera and National Theatre House. You will also view the Baroque church from the 17th century which houses the ashes of Frederic Chopin’s heart, which was brought from Paris and placed here. You will also make a short stop at the Royal Lazienki Park to see the Monument of Frederick Chopin, a secessionist sculpture.
